Over the weekend I was fortunate to photography the open day event for the City of Armadale new Armdale Fitness and Aquatic Centre with Kelly from 7 to 1 photography.
A brilliant day for a fantastic facility.
The open day was an absolutely brilliant day for a fantastic facility. I will admit I was really upset when they closed the Aquatic Centre to renovate it, what felt like, just after all the new outdoor ‘splash zone’ had been installed for the young children. Why would you spend all that money to add the new water play area only for it to be closed and all dug up for the new centre? It didn’t make any sense to me. I was really pleased to see that they haven’t got rid of that splash zone and actually that was the first stage in the re-development of the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre and it is a proud addition to the new pool area.
The aquatic area
The splash zone sits outside alongside the 50m Olympic size pool, and next to the indoor 25 metre lap pool, program pool, and leisure pool. All of which lead you through to the spa and sauna. I’m going to be honest, the heat in the spa room was too much for me but when I had to go into the sauna to get a couple of shots I thought I might pass out! How do people sit in there? I’m starting a health kick but I think a sauna is probably going to be off my list. The toxins can stay in my body, we’ve made friends now! The sauna’s look great, but I’ll stick to admiring from afar :p
The fitness area
There is a great gym at the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre with Technogym equipment who have supplied gym equipment to 6 Olympic and Paralympic games. Sadly I don’t think working out on the equipment is enough to get you to the Olympics, I think it would take way more training, dedication, and co-ordination than I am ever going to find!
Then there is a fitness studio with a huge timetable of group fitness classes and a cycle/spin class room. There weren’t any classes run while I was there so some of the fitness instructors rounded up people to come and do a short intro class on the bikes. All so I could get some photos. Sadly for them we didn’t let them just sit on the bikes and smile, the instructor made them work for it!
The swimming club and special guest Olympian and Paralympian
The Armadale Kelmscott Swimming Club were also there promoting the club and they had invited Olympian Brianna Throssell, and Paralympian Josh Hofer OAM, to come along (with their medals) to inspire the future athletes.
All in all it looks like a great centre and I really enjoyed capturing the moments for the open day!
