With Celebrating Life Photography, I aim to capture family history in the making. Whether you about to welcome your first child and want to commemorate your amazing changing body as you grow a person so you need a maternity photographer, or you’re celebrating your first child and you need a newborn photographer or your sixth grandchild was just born five weeks early and you want to update the family portraits, I will be there to photograph and celebrate every precious life moment — capturing the memories with consistently incredible imagery that tells your story authentically you.
Celebrating life’s special moments is about more than just sharing photos on Facebook and Instagram (or social media in general). Chat to me about how we can work together for family, maternity and newborn photography to commemorate every branch of your family tree!
Maternity Photography
My style of maternity photography with Celebrating Life Photography is similar to my style of engagement photography. The focus is on connection and emotion with an attention to detail and creativity. I strive to capture the love and connection that a couple has for each other as well as the connection that they each have to their unborn child and the excitement and love they have for the new addition to their family. Of course where there is a big brother or sister then the excitement that they have for their new little brother or sister is totally beautiful and definitely should be captured! (I know with my kids, the love they have for their siblings was never greater than before the younger sibling was born!)
Newborn Photography
Finding cute poses for your precious baby is part of my expertise. I will gently guide their bodies into cute, artistic, and serene poses. As with all of the genres of photography that I work in, I start with a basic foundation of poses and make micro adjustments to change the look and feel of the image. There are three basic positions for newborns: on their backs, on their sides, or on their stomachs. From there I dig into my giant suitcase to use props, blankets, lighting, and our creative compositions to change each image.
I always start photographing baby alone, however once we have baby photographed alone I work to capture photos of mum and dad with baby (together and separately) as well as involving any siblings in the shoot as well to celebrate the new version of the family unit.
