Generally for maternity photography I aim to photography somewhere between 32 and 36 weeks. By this point the baby bump is out there for all to see in it’s shining in magnificent glory but the mumma isn’t too uncomfortable, the baby hasn’t dropped and most importantly I am very unlikely to have to call upon some very long out of date training from my volunteer ambulance days of how to deliver a baby!
After photographing family photos and then their wedding photos I was really looking forward to celebrating their next stage and capturing some maternity photos with them.
With this in mind I had organised with River and Sharmony to catch up again in a few weeks from now. Then Covid 19 started to close the world down, we were in a period where things were starting to close and we didn’t know what restrictions were going to be put in and for how long.
Sharmony contacted me and after a lengthy discussion on harm reduction and harm minimisation, how we could maintain social distancing (tricky for me, I didn’t realise how much I touch, adjust clothing, and am generally in close to people when I photograph!) Sharmony didn’t want to wait and risk further restrictions and not being able to have the photographs taken to celebrate this amazing time in their lives. – Honestly, I know it sounds cliché but how amazing is a woman’s body to grow a new person! So although well before the planned 32 weeks we managed to get these photos.
A big thank you to River’s parents who allowed us to use their back garden for these photos!
Pregnant Mummy
Some funny photos
It was an absolute pleasure to photography River and Sharmony again and I know that their little boy is going to be surrounded with love, not only from his mummy and daddy but from his doting grandparents and army of uncles! Congratulations and best wishes for the adventure ahead!
Awww the how lovely you get to capture the circle of life. What gorgeous maternity photos and such a beautiful Bubba bump. You are amazing Emma.
Congrats Sharmony and River. Becoming Mama and Dada for the first time is all sorts of wonderful. You must hit Emma up for newborn photos. You won’t be disappointed 😉
