I love maternity photography! A time filled with excitement of new life!
A couple of weekends ago I had the great pleasure of catching up with Caitlin and Kishore again and while Kish was looking dapper in his wedding suit Caitlin was looking quite a bit different to the last time I saw her.
Life span photography
One of the first pieces of advice that I was given when I started photography was to specialise in one genre. If you want to do weddings, do only weddings, if you want to do maternity do only maternity. The problem with that is that I fall in love with the people I photograph and I want to be there to celebrate all the exciting moments of their life. I want to follow them through all of life’s milestones and celebrate and capture the connection and the feelings that these moments bring. Then I realised that life span photography allows me that. I get to follow people through all the milestones and I get to be there with them to celebrate.
I feel like that is what I have been fortunate to do with Caitlin and Kishore. I met Caitlin 7 year ago and met Kish about 3 years ago when I was taking family photos as Caitlin’s family were updating family photos to include Caitlin’s baby niece. At the time Caitlin and Kishore were quite new but boy were they smitten.
In the last 3 years I have photographed them as a newly dating couple, their engagement, their wedding day and now as they prepare for their new, and most eagerly anticipated role as parents.
Maternity photography Perth
When we were planning where to go for the photos we decided on the Supreme Court Gardens in Perth. It is a beautiful garden but also has the water fountain and the stunning columns of the building.
Caitlin is Australian and Kishore is from Sri Lanka and I knew that Caitlin would be wearing a saree that had been chosen by Kishore’s mum and was going to have mehandi (henna) on her belly and Kish would be in his wedding suit. I was looking for a location where we could get a combination of formal setting to allow their beautiful clothing to shine and also relaxed to let their fun and humorous personalities shine.
The reality was, it really wouldn’t have mattered where we had chosen for the photos, the love these two have for each other and their little Choc Drop is the only thing that I see in the photos!

Adding some personality and love!
Baby Choc Drop has chosen one of the most loving families to join! He is already loved beyond measure by so many. Caitlin and Kishore brought a couple of items with them including a beautiful blanket hand made by Caitlin’s mum and other gifts for Choc Drop including the cutest shoes, and an elephant teddy!
Eagerly awaiting the next instalment of their life story!
I am sure that my eager anticipation for the safe arrival of Caitlin and Kishore’s little bundle is surpassed by quite a few excited relatives but even so, I will be making sure my phone stays on so that I can hear the news when this little one decides to make his entry into the world.
Good luck Caitlin and Kishore, you’re little one is so very lucky to have you both as parents and to be loved already by two amazing sets of grandparents, aunties, uncle and cousins! xoxo
